Albert Haynesworth and Chad Ochocinco

So with the recent lockout ending in the NFL, teams were given a much shorter time than normal to sign players, make trades, re work contracts, etc... Players have been switching teams left and right. This is honestly the most excitement I've seen in an off season in recent years. I can't say I was happy prior to a deal being done because we didn't know if football was going to happen a week ago.

But now that's it here. Let's talk about some major additions.

We'll start with Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth was a defensive lineman on the Washington Redskins that didn't fair very well under Mike Shanahan's authority. He was failing conditioning tests, missing practices, stomping on players heads (tried to at least). I know there were warrants out for traffic violations. All in all it seems like Haynesworth might be hard to control. There seemed to be a little temper going on but in all honesty I think it had to do with him just not liking it in Washington. So then why sign a deal? The money of course!

Now when I had read about Haynesworth going to the Patriots I was happy. I know what Pepper Johnson can do for Haynesworth and I know he can bring out the Pro Bowler potential that he didn't care to bring out for the Redskins. I mean if he can bring out the best in Wilfork, then he's going to bring out the monster in Haynesworth. In all honesty, I fear for any running back that has to run through our defensive line. Haynesworth, Wilfork, Warren... It's literally the Great Wall of New England. All Patriots fans have to hope for is that Haynesworth straightens out his act and becomes dominant once again.

On a final note with Haynesworth, I was reading a lot of comments about his trade to New England from NFL pages, Yahoo Sports, ESPN, and a lot of people both Pats fans and non Pats fans were using the term "Cancer" a lot in reference to what Haynesworth is bringing to the team. I don't personally think that term should be used in any kind of way regarding a player who you don't like. This comes as a surprise to me especially with Patriots fans especially since the recent death of Myra Kraft who did die of cancer. I think these people who use the term, need to find a new word other than cancer because it's just completely wrong.

With the news of Chad Ochocinco coming to New England, I immediately was in shock. I had just woken up from a nap and my mom and had said something along the lines of, "When did the Patriots get Ochonueve"? I'm like, "who the hell the is Ochonueve"? I finally figured it out and I wanted to start dancing but then I thought about what Chad Ochocinco brings to the table. Yes he's a controversial WR. He's never done anything harmful though. He just loves the game of football, that's all. He likes to shine, which is something that us Patriot fans haven't really seen. Yeah Moss was a big named player who liked the spotlight but when he came to New England, he turned his spotlights off and became one with the team. Ochocinco's a player who will dance in the end zone, tweet on the sidelines, or worse. I don't hate him, and I'm technically still dancing. I just don't want him to do something stupid that could get him suspended for a game or two. With the Jets on the verge of acquiring Nnamdi Asomugha, that means the Jets are gonna have the best secondary in the league. But their secondary can't stop Branch, Welker, Ochocinco, Hernandez, Gronkowski, Woodhead, and my favorite underrated guy, Edelman!

So do I think Ochocinco was a good addition? Absolutely. I think with Ochocinco in the mix it will alow guys like Branch and Welker to get open more and maybe the both of them will have a career season. I think Ochocinco is gonna turn up game and also have a career season. I mean there's one big factor in having a career season as a wide receiver and that's having an MVP quarterback like Tom Brady.

So with these major additions a lot of people speculate some troubles. No body thinks about the past with Patriots and players with a history of issues in the NFL. We took Corey Dillon who from what I remember was unhappy in Cincinnati and and turned him into a Super Bowl champion a year later. We took Randy Moss who was a sluggish slob in Oakland to a Super Bowl. He broke the record for touchdown receptions in a single season by a wide receiver and he also helped the Pats go 16-0. That's the thing about the New England Patriots. We take childish players and turn them into men.

Can't wait for this season to begin.
